AFRIDS: Advanced Forest Resource Inventory Decision Support System
“The right wood, to the right mill, at the right time.”
Tap into the power of LIDAR remotely sensed imagery with AFRIDS! Available as a desktop or web-based program, AFRIDS provides forest managers with industry-leading tools for utilizing LIDAR forest inventories. Redefine your expectations of forest biophysical information with the following features:
LIDAR Derived Imagery
Information on forest structure has never been more accessible. Display millions of hectares of LIDAR derived imagery in a web-based, easy-to-use map interface. The 20m resolution provides precise predictions of biophysical information including: mean and top tree height, gross total and merchantable volume, biomass, quad-mean DBH, and basal area.
Dynamic Block Yields
Quickly assess potential harvest block yield with the Block Yield tool. Import existing blocks, use forest inventory polygons, or create custom blocks on the fly with draw and edit tools. Estimate the total or average value of a chosen biophysical variable with 95% confidence intervals.
Forest Data Integration
Simplify the decision making process by aggregating LIDAR and forest inventory data in a single program. Access information such as species composition, stand age, and ownership, or use the forest inventory polygons as the starting point for creating and testing custom harvest blocks.
Export Your Data
Take your AFRIDS results with you! Easily export block yield estimates as data-rich reports or spatially accurate shapefiles. Quickly create high quality, PDF maps of your biophysical surfaces and blocks with the click of a button.
